Biden warns that "ultra MAGA" Republicans will lead the United States down a "road to chaos."

Washington— President Biden warned Wednesday about challenges to American democracy, urging voters to reject "extreme MAGA" Republicans who undermine voting faith.

The president, who has portrayed Republicans as extremists dedicated to Trump's "Make America Great Again" movement, blamed his predecessor for an assault on democracy that Biden said led to political violence.

"American democracy is under threat because the defeated former president won't accept the results," Biden stated. "We're all voting on democracy"

Biden linked the recent attack on Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, to the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Assailant asked Paul Pelosi, "Where's Nancy?"

"That's how the mob stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6," Biden added.

Federal officials say David DePape broke into the couple's San Francisco home to break Speaker Pelosi's kneecaps.

Biden warned that a GOP win on Nov. 8 will threaten American democracy in his speech.

“There are candidates running for every level of office in America... who won't recognise the election results,” he stated.

"America is headed for chaos." Unprecedented. Illegal, he said.

Biden said a minority of Americans threaten democracy and political violence. He said, "They're loud and determined."

At least 199 GOP candidates for statewide or federal positions next week have falsely claimed the 2020 election was stolen or worked to overturn its results, according to FiveThirtyEight.

Biden and his party have spent the last year warning about the candidates' threat to democracy. Liberal groups helped promote the candidates in Republican primaries, anticipating they'd be easier to beat in the general election.

Despite these efforts, Republicans are projected to regain the House on Tuesday, derailing Democratic goals for two years.

Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield) called Biden's address an attempt to divert voters from Trump's record.

McCarthy tweeted, "President Biden is dividing and deflecting at a time when America needs to unite" because he can't talk about his policies that have drove up the cost of living. "Americans don't buy it."

Biden spoke at the Columbus Club at Union Station in Washington, near the Capitol attack site. White House aide Anita Dunn said Trump's choice of venue was meant to highlight political violence.

Biden wished the Jan. 6 attacks stopped the war on democracy. "Nope."

Biden chastised Republicans for not condemning the attack on Paul Pelosi and for pushing conspiracy theories online.

Biden told the gathering to look at how Republicans reacted. They're excessive.

Kari Lake laughed about the attack at a campaign rally Monday. Trump Jr. mocked the episode online.

Former President Trump and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell criticised the attack, while Trump claimed it wasn't a break-in.

Recent polls reveal an overwhelming majority of Americans believe democracy is under danger, Biden said.

Voters' top concerns are inflation and the economy.

A majority of people say democracy is in jeopardy, but Americans are divided over how to solve the problem and whether it's a priority this election cycle.

71% of registered voters thought democracy is threatened, while only 7% said it's the most essential issue.

The president reminded voters that Tuesday's election is about more than high gas prices and inflation.

“I call on all Americans, regardless of party, to seize this historic moment,” he stated. Vote knowing what's at risk, not just the current policy.
